Pet memorials: " I wish I'd hugged him before I left that morning....."

These are the words my daughter said to me after our 10 year old beloved dog, became acutely unwell after a walk one Thursday and had to be put to sleep whilst she was still at school.

That line instantly brings tears to my eyes. Even now.
I still feel sad that it wasn't possible for her to say goodbye and that I had to break the news so unexpectedly, on her return from school.
Diesel was her soul mate and emotional support animal. Often helping reduce her anxiety by sneaking onto her bed for cuddles.
The need to have a little of our Diesel to hold was hugely important to her. We walked about whether she'd like a piece of memorial jewellery and it was an instant 'yes'.
She wanted something she could wear everyday so she chose a bracelet, so she could take him wherever she goes.
We discussed what she wanted to have and I set about making it for her. She chose a silver coloured glass to have a little of his ashes encased in, so it would go with everything she wears, and a initial 'D' engraved charm and silver pawprint charm to also go on the bracelet.
Here is the bracelet commemorating our beautiful and irreplacable boy. He was one of a kind, as her bracelet is too.

We still all miss him no end, but she gets great comfort from being able to take a little of him wherever she goes.
